Ask. Believe. Receive.

I’ve just written a blog from the Daily Prompt concerning what I would do if I won the lottery. And I concluded it with Ask. Believe. Receive. And there’s a specific reason for that.

The other day, I was scrolling through YouTube looking for something to listen to while I prepared that night’s dinner. I stumbled upon something about manifesting and knew from the title that it didn’t fit with me. But I also realised something else – I felt overwhelmed by yet another ‘things you must do to manifest’ lecture. They seem to get ever more complicated and even contradictory. As I did so, I got the distinct reminder of the Bible’s Ask. Believe. Receive.

In Mark 11:24, Jesus states ‘Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.’ This is echoed also in Matthew 21:22 which says ‘And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” Furthermore, in James 4 he states that people don’t receive what they want because they do not ask God for it nor trust God to provide what they seek – instead, they covet what other people have and receive nothing. What all of this is saying is, it is belief that provides us with what we want, with the dreams that we have. We can pray as much as we like, but if we don’t believe it will happen we will not create the world we want. That it is God (or Source or the Universe, whichever you prefer) who provides us with what we want because, in co-creation, we can speak our dreams in existence.

This builds on the quantum work which uses the observer effect – though before the observer effect, there has to be the thought. So, the observer effect is the thought form. Which becomes that which we focus our minds upon. Bring it all together and you have – thoughts become things. We speak our life into being. What we believe will happen, happens even if that belief is only at a subconscious level. We are manifesting all the time, and we are manifesting as driven by our beliefs which are the observer effect. We might have the thought that we, say, want to win the lottery but if that is not supported by the observer effect, if that is not a belief that we hold, then we will not manifest. It sounds complicated, but it’s simple.

The first step we need to take is the understanding that what we believe, we create. If we believe in our five senses and those alone, then we create our reality on that basis. Whether that is a reality we want to accept or not, it is the one we are choosing to observe therefore it is the one we are creating. It’s linked from a neurology perspective to the Reticular Activating System – which is driven by our beliefs.

If we accept this, then the next step is to accept that we can observe something different. We can believe something different. Because a belief is just that, a belief. And beliefs can be changed. We can change what we observe. And it can happen simultaneously. The observer effect operates on vibration, energy is a vibration. So, we vibrate the observation in real time constantly. And that is how we transmit the belief, the message. The observation.

So, the only missing link we need to wrap our minds around isn’t vision boards, it isn’t the nervous system as it is portrayed as being. It is our belief system. Can we believe it before we see it? Or are we stuck in the belief system that we can only believe it when we see it? Which means we are reliant upon a belief system over which we are seeking to exercise no control. That, in fact, we surrender control to the collective about. We can create all the vision boards we want, we can focus on our nervous system as much as we want, but if we fundamentally do not believe that we create our own reality, all we will be doing is setting ourselves up for extreme disappointment. I know, I’ve been there. Many times.

In coaching terms, this is akin to taking responsibility for the way your life is. Because it is no one else’s responsibility but yours. No one ‘makes’ you do anything, you choose to. And coming to that understanding, accepting it and applying it is difficult. Because we have been conditioned to believe that we can abrogate responsibility to ‘other’. But we can’t. Not if we want to live the life we want to truly live, whatever that is.

So, what am I saying? I am saying that belief, surrender, trust is the key to manifesting. I tried this out the other day. I asked for the money to help me through a tough time. I didn’t know where it would come from, as far as I was aware I didn’t have any specific avenues. But I trusted. I believed. I detached from the desire and observed it at some level. And the next day I had £200 from something I expected nothing but hoped for £100.

Keep believing.
