Interesting question given you can’t include your home or car. I have never bought myself jewellery, I haven’t bought designer shoes though I have bought designer clothes but usually through discount retailers so they’re much cheaper. Do I count furniture in this? I suppose it all comes down to definition – furniture is functional and relatively expensive, but I don’t feel inclined to include it.
My biggest indulgence has always been handbags. I’ve often bought designer handbags again from discount stores, but I do own two Mulberry handbags that I bought at full value. Together, they amount to around £1,000 and I love them. When we left our house, I was determined to bring them with me.
I have realised in writing this that I buy other people very expensive presents but not myself. Like the Apple watch I bought my husband whilst settling for a much less expensive FitBit for myself. The Bang & Olufson speaker I also bought for him, the very expensive Webber BBQ, and the iFit treadmill.
Maybe the lesson in this, once I get some decent money behind me, is to put myself first and buy myself some decent things before I spend a lot of money on others.
