Okay, here goes on 30 things that make me happy, in no particular order just as they come to me:
- My son
- My husband
- My dog
- Chocolate
- A good cup of Early Grey tea
- Writing
- Meditating
- Reading a good book
- Visiting historic properties
- Listening to music – last night I listened to classical, jazz and rock
- Walking a particular route near my house
- Going to Christchurch Park in Ipswich
- Eating a Sunday roast someone else has cooked
- Getting cosy as a family on an autumn evening
- Watching Steel Magnolias (though it makes me cry) and Jane Austen films
- Travelling
- Watching the first SATC film and the TV shows
- Being in Norfolk, specifically Holkham Hall
- Laughing
- Listening to the dawn chorus (even at 4.30am!)
- The smell of the air after a summer shower
- The smell of cut grass
- Being in NYC
- Having my hair done in a salon
- Nice clothes I feel comfortable in
- A quintessentially English summer – Wimbledon, Glastonbury, cricket, garden parties
- Being at the Tower of London and walking around the City of London
- The build-up to Christmas
- Having enough money to be comfortable
- Stimulating, intelligent, humorous chats with friends and/or family
There we go, 30 things that make me happy. And there are more I can think of such as seeing the autumn leaves, walks in a forest, walks on a beach, hot chocolate when it’s chilly, sunflowers, spending time with friends, watching the snow fall when you know you don’t have to go anywhere and you’re warm and cosy indoors…I could go on but I will leave it there.
